This past April, the Tennessee Titans finally drafted a wide receiver in the first round of the NFL Draft. After years of players like: Andre Woolfolk, Pacman Jones, Michael Griffin, Vince Young and most recently Chris Johnson, the Titans brass decided it was time for a pass catching threat.

Eleven years after taking Kevin Dyson with the first pick, they drafted a huge wide receiver out of Rutgers.

Kenneth “Kenny” Britt, born on September 19, 1988, stands at 6’3  (6’2 7/8″to be specific) and weighs 218 lbs. He started three years at Rutgers, declaring for the draft after his junior season.

In 2007 he caught 62 balls for 1,232 yds and 8 tds. That year, Britt led all sophomores in receiving yards and yards per reception (19.9). His phenomenal sophomore season garnered him an All Big-East selection, and Team Offensive MVP. Coming into the 2008 season, Britt was named an honorable mention for All-American by NationalChamps.net

In 2008, he responded to the hype by catching 87 passes for 1,371 yards and 7 tds. He was named Third Team All-American by the AP Writers. He finished behind wide outs Michael Crabtree, Dez Bryant, Austin Collie and Jarret Dillard.

Britt was drafted 30th overall, by the Titans. Many experts believed he’d be selected by the Giants as a means of filling the void left by Plaxico Burress who was recently suspended by the NFL.

But, the G-Men took Hakeem Nicks and with Evander “Ziggy” Hood still on the board, and Haynesworth leaving for the Redskins, I was almost sure the Titans would take Hood. Don’t get me wrong, I love Hood, I think he’s a monster tackle. At 6’3 300 lbs with a 33 inch vertical, Hood is an extremely athletic lineman. But, the Titans need a wide receiver– so I prayed they would take Britt.

My prayers were answered.

No offense to Ziggy, but a 4.47 40 yard dash and a 37 inch vertical is much more appealing.

Defense may win championships, but offense sells tickets.

With Britt on the team the Titans might be able to get past the Divisional game for the first time in seven years.

Below is Britt’s Highlight reel, enjoy Titans fans; and for you other AFC South fans, cower in fear.

Oh and he can block…

ANDDDD he can tackle…
